Year 12 students generally study SACE Stage 2 subjects and can choose from a wide range of full-year courses depending on their desired pathway post-schooling (including Flexible Industry Pathways). Students wishing to go to university will choose four full-year subjects (80 credits), and need to achieve a grade of C- or better to be eligible for an ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank). Students wishing to complete SACE only, must choose three full-year subjects (60 credits). In order to successfully complete the SACE, Year 12 students must obtain at least 200 SACE credits in total, and have been successful (C- or better) in Stage 1 Personal Learning Plan (PLP), Stage 1 English, Stage 1 Mathematics and Stage 2 Research Project.

The SACE Board have prepared a two-page guide for students and families which provides an overview of SACE requirements, recognised learning and special provisions; click here to download a copy: “Welcome to the SACE”

Learning Pathways

BRIDGE

We are an intensive program that provides emotional and behavioural support for students and their families – please visit us to view our facilities and the programs that we offer.

TLC

The TLC is our off-site Flexible Learning Options (FLO) campus; located at 30 Edinburgh Street, it provides access to a range of accredited learning and SACE-based educational programs.

VET

PLHS caters for a range of career pathways through the availability of VET (Vocational Education and Training) courses such as Aquaculture, Construction, Kitchen Operations, Maritime Operations, Early Childhood Education and Care, Individual Support, Automotive, and Screen and Media. Students completing these certificate courses must be enrolled in Workplace Practices or an associated Integrated Learning course for a full year.

FIP

Our FIP’s (Flexible Industry Pathways) ensure students are supported in their chosen area of training to gain certification in a chosen area of VET whilst still completing SACE.

LOCAL DELIVERY

Our vast assortment of subject offerings cater for a variety of post-schooling alternatives, from university and other forms of tertiary education, to trade and employment pathways. If a subject is not offered at PLHS, we are able to look to local delivery options to deliver course content.
