Length: Full Year

Recommended background: It is recommended (but not a requirement) that students have previous experience in Sports Studies and/or community sport environments and can work independently. Please note, there is no expectation that students are skilled athletes, but they should hold an interest in physical activity. Individual needs may require support outside of timetabled sessions.

Content:

Students will be involved in three practical inquires, one personal endeavour and one connections experience(s).

This very flexible course permits individual students to develop further skills and knowledge in their chosen passion through involvement in both their school and club environments.

Students undertake skill development (practicums) and are provided opportunity to specialise in two aspects of sport/physical activity that interests them (personal endeavour and connections).

Incidental Costs: There is potential to attend a non-compulsory excursion.

Pathways:

This course leads to a variety of university, TAFE courses and workplace pathways. This course is ideal for students who are independent learners, have a passion for sport/physical activity, but still want all options open re: the mentioned pathways.

Assessment:

Students’ performance will be determined according to the subject’s Performance Standards as outlined in the Subject Outline. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes. Themes that are explored throughout the course are personal development, sporting skills, health – anything that interests the individual student.

Students will be assessed on two assessment components:

  • School-based Assessment: Folio (70%)
  • External Assessment: Investigation (30%)
