Content:

Creative Arts – Photography students will develop skills and knowledge by taking photographs using DSLR cameras, enhancing and manipulating digital images using Adobe Photoshop and exploring artistic composition options. Potential projects could include the development and presentation of an event poster and/or themed calendar, a practical skills folio (exploring camera, photo-editing and composition techniques) and profiles of the life and work of two photographers (one local, one global). This course emphasises a problem-solving approach to the generation of ideas or concepts, and the development of visual representation skills to communicate resolutions.

As per the Subject Outline, in this full-year subject, students are expected to:

  • demonstrate knowledge and understanding of core photographic concepts
  • investigate and critically analyse the nature and processes of working productively as a photographer
  • demonstrate knowledge of working creatively, within or across art forms, through an exploration of photographic media, materials, techniques, processes and technologies
  • apply practical skills, techniques and processes to work creatively and productively for a purpose
  • work productively to develop, present and evaluate photographic products
  • communicate and critically reflect on personal photographic ideas, processes, products and opinions
  • evaluate photographic products with reference to processes, outcomes and contexts

Assessment:

Student performance will be determined according to the subject’s Performance Standards as described in the Subject Outline. Grades A+ to E- will be used for reporting purposes.
