Port Lincoln High School's

Online Curriculum Guide

As the largest high school on the Eyre Peninsula, our vast assortment of subject offerings caters for a variety of post-schooling alternatives, from university and other forms of tertiary education, to trade and employment pathways. Port Lincoln High School’s Online Curriculum Guide is designed to assist students and families to select subjects that will enable them to both achieve academic success and support their preferred destination beyond school. We recommended that students select subjects that:

  • enable them to capitalise on their strengths
  • they enjoy studying but are also challenging
  • provide the qualifications or background knowledge needed to keep their future options open

It takes self-awareness and honest self-evaluation to choose subjects that support success. Research indicates however, that many high school students choose their subjects based on peer pressure and/or parental influence, rather than knowledge of their own strengths and goals. Accordingly, it is important for students to honestly review their academic record and seek advice and support widely – from their teachers, past students, online resources etc. – to facilitate clearer decision-making.
