Another Insightful Year 12 Art/Design Trip

Once again, our senior Visual Arts classes were invited to spend the final two days of Term 1 in Adelaide on the annual PLHS Year 12 Art/Design Trip. Another busy schedule was arranged for the attending students, with a wide variety of eye-opening and thought-provoking creations on offer.

The first day’s itinerary featured visits to CDW Studios (visual effects school), Eckersley’s (art supplies store), UniSA’s City West campus (tertiary art/design courses), the 2019 SACE Art Show (Stage 2 art/design showcase exhibition), the SAHMRI Building (architecture tour), The Jam Factory (art/craft/design centre) and a street art tour around the CBD. Experiences on the second day included guided tours of the Art Gallery of South Australia, the Alessi/Georg Jensen displays at David Jones, KS Design (graphics studio) and Matt Blatt (furniture).

Congratulations to this year’s participating students – they were well organised, engaged and enthusiastic throughout. Many thanks also to their parents for their positive support of this valuable initiative. We hope this experience will translate into some insightful theory and innovative practice back in the classrooms.
