Viking Style from Room 22 Visual Artists

During Term 1, Room 22 students put their creative skills to use by connecting Mrs Beard’s HASS lessons with Art, and researching, constructing and embellishing Viking shields.

They considered the type of symbols, colours, and features that the Vikings used on their shields and developed their own ideas to reflect interests, identity and protection (hence the spikes). We drew the line at making spears, instead borrowing the cleaners’ mops and brooms to improvise our ‘Shield Wall’ photoshoot.

Keep a look out for the next art-based project, involving bird’s eye views.
