Pluck Dissections Courtesy of “The River”

Port Lincoln High School is privileged to maintain partnerships with a host of local businesses and organisations. Another such arrangement was recently forged with Andrew and Sheree Mills of The River Farm Products; they have generously agreed to donate offal to our Science department for use in Biology dissections.

Last Friday, Andrew personally delivered four plucks to the school – a pluck is the connected lungs, heart and trachea of an animal. These were dissected later that day by the students in Mrs Lyn Hosking’s Year 11 Biology class.

As these images demonstrate, the students were clearly engaged with this fascinating learning task. We thank Andrew and Sheree for making this lesson possible; hopefully, it is the first of many courtesy of The River.
