F.A.M.E. Award Win for Year 9 Girls

Earlier this year, students in my Year 8 and Year 9 English classes studied the art of film-making; they produced a number of short films to enter into the Port Lincoln City Band’s annual Film and Music Entertainment (F.A.M.E.) Awards.

Five of our films were accepted as finalists in the Under 15 category and were premiered to an enthusiastic F.A.M.E. Awards crowd at the Nautilus Theatre last Friday night; many of our students were in attendance to watch their movies shown on the big screen.

We are delighted to report that one of our movies – “Hide and Run” – took away the Industry Incentive Award, sponsored by On Eyre and Missing Link Media. Produced by a group of Year 9 girls, “Hide and Run” is a horror film filled with special effects makeup that made the audience gasp. Congratulations to (pictured L-R) Phoebe Edmonds, Paige Holland, Erin McMillan, Isabelle Stutzer, Sky Weir, Ahmari Guamen and Acacia Boyce. For their efforts, the girls received a stylish trophy and a cheque for $250.

It was a wonderful night that showcased the fantastic talent of our students and other filmmakers, musicians, singers and dancers from across the Eyre Peninsula.
