On Wednesday October 31st, my Year 11 PE class and I had the opportunity to participate in an introductory self-defence class at Spektrum Port Lincoln.
Although the students were initially a little unsure of what to expect, they came away from the session buzzing about what they had just learnt. As one student put it: “Doing some of those moves felt so empowering”.
Our instructor Sam Broughton and assistant Zoe Kooistra (a Year 9 student at Port Lincoln High School) took our class through a range of different movements, focusing on confidence and coordination. (Zoe is pictured here flipping teacher Jess Mills!)
