Earlier today, Port Lincoln High School was privileged to receive a delegation of visitors from the Chinese province of Shandong. The group are in Port Lincoln as part of the China-Australia BRIDGE (Building Relationships through Intercultural Dialogue and Growing Engagement) Program, run locally by the Port Lincoln Primary School. Whilst on their ten-day tour of Australia, the delegation from the Huantai Experimental Middle School in Zibo, will spend a week living with Port Lincoln families before visiting Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney.

Whilst at PLHS, the seven Chinese students and three teachers met our Principal Mr Todd George and enjoyed a tour of our campus, focussing on our Aboriginal Art, Aquaculture and STEM learning programs. The tour concluded in our Commercial Kitchen, where the delegation joined Miss Kesby Turner-Wiebreck’s Year 11 Kitchen Operations class for a cooking lesson and delicious shared lunch.

Many thanks to Ms Wanda Jarvis, Ms Jenny Silver, Mr Chris McGown, Miss Kesby Turner-Wiebreck and Mr Jeremy Hartwich for generously hosting the group in their classrooms.

We thank the Chinese delegation for visiting PLHS, wish them all the best for the remainder of their stay in Australia and hope that their long journey home is a safe one.
