Content:

In Year 7 Dance, students will focus on the main components of:

  • Skill Development – This component will focus on Dance-specific techniques, through a range of exercises and activities to help build students skills and awareness in this area long with safe dance practice.
  • Performance – Students will get to work both as a class and in small groups learning and developing performance pieces specific for to dance will present to peers at the end of the program.
  • Response – Students will analyse, evaluate learn and investigate key topics in Dance.

Students will develop, create, explore, reflect and perform using the core components.

Dance develops individuals to be reflective thinkers who can pose and solve problems and work both independently and collaboratively. As students engage with dance practices, they develop imaginative ways to make meaning of the world.

Assessment:

Students’ performance will be determined according to the subject’s Achievement Standards as outlined in the framework of the Australian Curriculum. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes.
