Content:

PLACE (Port Lincoln Art Centre Enterprise) is offered to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students with an interest in the Visual Arts. The aim of PLACE is to provide opportunities to develop entrepreneurial skills in relation to the production of artworks that reflect personal and cultural identity. Selected artworks will be exhibited to a variety of audiences to increase community cultural awareness. Works will be available for purchase. The entrepreneurial skills will assist students to make connections between learning, business and the workplace. Through the process of developing and producing artworks, students will develop specific literacy, numeracy, creative problem solving and ICT skills. Working with community members will develop in the students a sense of connection and self-worth.

Students aim to submit work into the following intrastate exhibitions:

  • Malka Art Prize
  • Our Mob
  • Port Lincoln Art Prize

Assessment:

Students’ performance will be determined according to the subject’s Achievement Standards as outlined in the framework of the Australian Curriculum. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes. This includes assessment of achievement in both making and responding.
