Content:

Research Practices students develop a topic question that is based on an area of interest to them. They are provided with opportunities to:

  • examine the purpose of research and explore a range of research approaches
  • develop their investigative and inquiry skills
  • compile and present their findings in the form of a research outcome

Students explore research practices to develop skills in undertaking research, such as planning their research, developing and analysing their data and presenting their research findings.

As per the Subject Outline, in this semester subject, students are expected to:

  • demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the purpose of research
  • demonstrate knowledge and understanding of research approaches
  • develop specific research skills
  • consider the appropriateness, uses and limitations of specific sources
  • interpret and analyse information and data

Assessment:

Student performance will be determined according to the subject’s Performance Standards as described in the Subject Outline. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes.

  • Assessment Type 2: Sources Analysis (30%)
