Content:

The Gateways to Hospitality course provides valuable preparation for Year 10 students wanting to pursue a career in the food and hospitality industry. This program is to educate students on the range of career pathways and employment opportunities within the industry.

Within the Gateways to Hospitality course, students will complete:

  • 20 – 25 hours of industry-related work experience
  • TAFE Barista course

After completing the Gateways to Hospitality course, students must elect to continue into Hospitality VET courses by selecting Certificate II in Kitchen Operations. In addition to this, it is highly recommended that students select Hospitality Skills Development: Stage 2 Workplace Practices (20 credit) course in Year 11.

Assessment:

Student performance will be determined according to the subject’s Performance Standards as described in the Subject Outline. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes, with a focus on three key content areas:

  • Industry and Work Knowledge
  • Vocational Learning
  • VET
