PLHS Runners Claim Team Win at Tcharkuldu Rock

Today, six PLHS students travelled to Tcharkuldu Rock (near Minnipa) to compete in the annual West Coast Cross Country Run.

After watching the primary school events over 3km, our students competed in the 5km distance races. In the Year 7-9 category, Tate Boxer claimed twin bragging rights by finishing sixth in the boy’s race, with his brother Billy finishing eighth; Evie Gamlin finished nineteenth in the girl’s event.

The final race of the day was the Year 10-12 event; Ruby Gamlin finished seventh amongst the girls, while Max Rodda and Kaden Durdin – winners of the Year 7-9 category during the previous two year – not surprisingly took out the first and second places respectively. Impressively, Billy Boxer ran his second 5km race for the day – he finished in a creditable fifth place to secure the team prize for PLHS as the first school to have three runners across the finish line.

All six of our students represented PLHS with pride, demonstrating exemplary attitudes. Special thanks go to parent Michael Rodda for assisting with the transport. It is no mean feat to travel a 500km round trip for a 5km race.
