Yes, the Port Lincoln High School has a MEDICAL EXCLUSION POLICY for : Recommended minimum exclusion periods from attending school, for having infectious or contact diseases. Common Infectious Diseases | Rare Infectious Diseases. & Common diseases affecting skin, hair & eyes. Schools have a duty of care to staff and students at all times. This duty of care includes protection against hot weather both inside and outside classrooms. DECD has advised that if the weather forecast the night before on the 7pm ABC 1 television news is that the temperature for Port Lincoln will be 38 degrees C or higher the following day, Year 8, 9 and 10 students may leave at 12.50pm with parental approval. All staff are required to remain on duty on days of early dismissal. Lessons will continue as per normal timetable and students are expected to remain at school. Wherever possible, classes will be in air-conditioned rooms in the afternoon. Each year Parents/Caregivers are required to complete a permission form indicating that their student will be dismissed at 12.50pm All bus students are encouraged to stay at school until the end of the day as buses will run as normal (students will be supervised in the Resource Centre). This will assist us to be able to keep your students safe, informed of any fire activity in their particular bus route and to take the appropriate action. Each year Parents/Caregivers are required to complete a permission form indicating their wishes for the current school year. This will include: Having a day off from school should be treated exactly like having a day off from work! It is NOT ok to have a day off for your Birthday!!! Unless there is an alternate program of study or work organised with the school, the only reason a student can reasonably be absent is because of illness (including travel for surgery) or family reasons (funerals, unavoidable family holiday). Yes, the Port Lincoln High School has a colour-coded, flexible, safe and economic school uniform. PLHS specific garments: the School jumpers, PLHS summer dress and winter skirt are available from our Student Services Office; anytime during school hours for parents, recess and lunchtime for students. Some generic items (e.g. plain grey white or navy polo tops) can be purchased from a number of local retail outlets. There may be a range of reasons a parent needs to discuss an issue about their child. If it subject related, the best idea is to contact the teacher directly via email or phone. Information regarding this service can be obtained from Port Lincoln Primary School, who deal with all of the bookings. Yes, PLHS has a very strong Music department allowing students to follow a range of options with the study of music. PLHS also has a renowned school band for students to join. Yes, both Indonesian and Japanese are taught at PLHS and can be followed as a SACE pathway right through schooling. In Senior School there is also the option to study other languages via Open Learning if there is a strong desire. There are different compulsory subjects at different year levels. Maths, English, Science, History/Geography and HPE are compulsory to Year 10 and Maths and English are still compulsory in Year 11.Is there any medical reasons why students shouldn’t attend school?
