IndoFest returned to the Eyre Peninsula for the first time since its inception ten years ago. On September 7th/8th, many people from all over Indonesia journeyed to Cowell, Port Lincoln and Poonindie to share various aspects of their amazing culture. Students from Port Lincoln High School and Port Lincoln Primary School were engaged in workshops teaching performance, martial arts, cooking and traditional games.
The sessions ended with a twilight Asian Market held at Port Lincoln Primary School, with many local community members contributing to a fun-filled event. Food, Japanese drumming, face painting, Balinese/Javanese dancing, Japanese calligraphy, Indonesian games, food from several Asian countries and more were all on offer, ensuring that patrons greatly enjoyed their experience.
It was a wonderful beginning to something that we hope will become a regular event. Thank you to staff members Mrs Tanya Booker, Mrs Mel McGown and Mr Brett Crowder for their tremendous support of this initiative.
