The local community has the opportunity once again to adopt their very own barramundi fish, courtesy of Port Lincoln High School’s Aquaculture program and our unique “Adopt-a-Barra” fundraising scheme.
For just $20, each “parent” will be allocated a barramundi fingerling. The fish will be fed, monitored and managed by our Year 11 Aquaculture students via a weekly roster. “Adoption Papers” and email updates will be provided throughout the latter half of the year. Currently the fish are approximately three months old and around 60mm in length.
At the conclusion of the school year, the barra will be harvested and become available as whole fish, fresh fillets or smoked fillets. Alternatively, fish can be donated back to the school for breeding purposes.
As a special bonus, the first 50 adoptive parents will receive an extra fish product of their choice at no extra cost. Don’t miss out!
There are also great prizes up for grabs again in 2025; the Largest Fish prize is a $100 voucher, while the Mystery Fish (chosen at random) wins a fishing reel/rod combo, thanks to our generous sponsor, Seamaster Fishing Supplies.
To be a part of Adopt-a-Barra 2025, please download the REGISTRATION FORM (below), and return your completed form to the school along with your $20 payment per fish.
The PLHS Year 11 Aquaculture students thank you in advance of your valuable support.
